VISIONWEB EXPANDS ORDER PROCESSING CAPABILITIES FOR LABORATORIES
Return to the Top

New Functionality Enables Labs Using Optifacts Software to Electronically Submit Orders to Labs Using Any VisionWeb-Connected Lab Management System

Indianapolis, IN (2007 OLA Meeting) - November 15, 2007 VisionWeb, the premier provider of technology services to the optical industry, announced today the addition of new functionality to VisionWeb’s Open Network Exchange service (VisionWeb O.N.E.) that will enable laboratories using Optifacts Lab Management Software to electronically submit and route orders to laboratories using any of the six VisionWeb-connected lab management software systems.

Previous VisionWeb O.N.E. functionality enabled labs using Optifacts Lab Management Software to receive inbound orders through VisionWeb O.N.E. from eye care providers and labs using other VisionWeb-connected lab management systems. With the addition of this new functionality, Optifacts labs can now send outbound orders electronically through VisionWeb O.N.E. to labs using any lab management system connected with VisionWeb.

“The new VisionWeb O.N.E. functionality will result in more efficient order routing and fully automated electronic order processing among laboratories using Optifacts Software, ” said Mike O'Malley, COO and CFO for VisionWeb. “We are pleased to offer this enhanced service to labs to process orders with greater speed and accuracy, leading to increased efficiency and improved job turnaround time.”

Steve Morris, President of Optifacts, adds, “This is a huge step towards achieving unrestricted B2B order routing among all labs. The potential benefit for Optifacts labs is significant as this leading-edge technology comes online and we are very pleased to offer it to our customers to help grow their business.”

VisionWeb O.N.E. allows eyecare practices, retail locations, and optical laboratories to send orders electronically to processing centers or other laboratories, from sources other than a traditional web site. With VisionWeb O.N.E., there is no need to re-key order information or phone or fax the order. This technology helps increase efficiency and reduces errors for the customer and the laboratory processing the lens job. Additionally, VisionWeb O.N.E. is the most robust product in the market that works across multiple software platforms, helping to drive-down inefficiencies associated with the transfer of information.

Earlier this year, VisionWeb O.N.E. received a nomination for a 2007 OLA Award of Excellence in the category of Processing Materials & Tools. This category includes products and services that improve the processing of materials, including software and technology services. The OLA Award of Excellence is one of the most prestigious awards offered by the optical industry.

VisionWeb's Top Performing Optical Laboratories Receive Awards at 2007 OLA Meeting

Indianapolis, IN (2007 OLA Meeting) - November 15, 2007 - VisionWeb, the premier provider of technology services to the optical industry, announced today the honorees for their 2007 Lab of the Year program. The VisionWeb Lab of the Year program, introduced in 2005, is designed to encourage and reward labs that have shown exemplary results growing and maintaining customer loyalty using VisionWeb.
This year’s honorees are Aearo Technologies, Chickasha, OK; Southern Optical, Greensboro, NC; and Duffens/Langley Optical, Lenexa, KS. These honorees are among the top thirty labs receiving electronic orders through VisionWeb’s online ordering service.

“This year's Lab of the Year honorees are among our most savvy partners for promoting efficiency and automation in the practice and lab,” said Mike O’Malley, COO and CFO for VisionWeb. “We are proud to honor these industry leaders who utilize VisionWeb’s technology to increase their efficiency and realize true cost-savings with every electronic order they receive from VisionWeb.”

To determine the honorees, VisionWeb measured each lab’s ability to convert their customers’ orders from the phone, fax, or other methods, and to retain and grow their customers’ VisionWeb usage. In addition, the votes each lab received from VisionWeb members were incorporated into the final calculations. The voting process took place from June through September 2007, with nearly 1,500 votes collected from VisionWeb members. Efforts were made to ensure a level playing field for labs of all sizes, with calculations taking in to account overall lab volume versus lab size.

VisionWeb Lab of the Year honorees are featured in a special section of the VisionWeb site, and will receive an award commemorating their recognition. Past honorees include Balester Optical, CustomEyes, Enterprise Optical, Cherry Optical, National Nova Optical, and Twin City Optical. For more information, please visit www.visionweb.com and click on the Lab of the Year link.

VISIONWEB ADDS ERA MANAGEMENT SERVICE TO INSURANCE TRANSACTION PROCESSING SERVICE SUITE
Return to the Top

VisionWeb Members Can Now Manage Electronic Remittance Information from Insurance Payers

Las Vegas, NV (International Vision Expo West) – October 4, 2007 - VisionWeb, the premier provider of technology services to streamline the eyecare practice announced today the introduction of a new electronic remittance advice (ERA) management service that will allow VisionWeb members to manage electronic remittance advice from their insurance payers. The service helps to streamline insurance billing by automatically interpreting remittance information received from payers and delivering it electronically to eyecare providers in place of paper explanation of benefits (EOBs).
Using the ERA management service, eyecare providers will receive remittance information faster than with paper EOBs, reducing time and paperwork spent on billing. Powerful searching options allow eyecare providers to search and sort remittance information by provider, payer, date range, check number, or payment method. Easy to read claims summaries provide information on and reasons for adjustments, denials, or payment reductions. In addition, eyecare providers can easily find and print EOBs by patient, for streamlined secondary claims processing.

“The success of the independent eyecare provider is critically important to VisionWeb,” says Michael O’Malley, Chief Operating Officer for VisionWeb. “The addition of the ERA management service to VisionWeb’s suite of services allows us to offer a more comprehensive solution to eyecare providers for managing the processes and cash flows involved with insurance processing.”

The ERA management service is available as an add-on to VisionWeb’s monthly insurance transaction processing service, or as a stand-alone service. Monthly packages for both service types include unlimited remittance information, enrollment assistance, comprehensive staff training, and ongoing customer support.

Current customers of VisionWeb’s insurance transaction processing service are encouraged to contact their account representative to find out about a limited time offer to add the ERA management service to their existing subscription at a discount.
Eyecare providers with questions regarding VisionWeb’s insurance transaction processing services, including ERA management, should contact a VisionWeb Enrollment Consultant at (800) 590-0873, or email sales@visionweb.com.

Consultant Service Helps Practices Create, Evaluate, and Improve Insurance Coding Processes and Billing Departments

Las Vegas, NV (International Vision Expo West)– October 4, 2007 - VisionWeb, the premier provider of technology services to streamline the eyecare practice, announced today the introduction of a new coding consulting service, developed to help eyecare practices create, evaluate, and improve their coding processes and billing departments. VisionWeb’s coding consultant service helps eyecare practices identify areas of opportunity for improved claim reimbursement rates and improved cash flow. This service allows practices to reduce billing inefficiencies and inaccuracies resulting from incorrect coding of insurance claims, under-trained or over-burdened staff, inadequate collection of patient deductibles and co-pays, and inadequate collection from insurance companies.

The basic coding consultant service includes a comprehensive evaluation of current billing techniques, recommendations for improvement, and training/education as needed. Suggested improvements may include, but are not limited to the following; proper coding and compliance with an emphasis on Medicare requirements, proper patient insurance verification and paperwork requirements, review of charge slip (a.k.a. “Superbill”), electronic claims processing, managing accounts receivable, claims appeal process, and conducting regularly scheduled audits.

“VisionWeb is pleased to introduce this extremely valuable service to VisionWeb members and prospective eyecare practices nationwide,” says Jeffrey B. Saddington, President, and CEO of VisionWeb. “Insurance coding and reimbursement has historically been challenging for many practices. Our goal is to provide practices with the insight and proper knowledge to effectively manage this vital part of their businesses.”

VisionWeb’s coding consulting service is available on a contractual basis and requires a minimum commitment to participate. Consulting fees consist of an initial consultation fee and hourly rate per client. Due to the individualized needs and custom nature of the service for each client, space is limited and advanced scheduling is encouraged.

Eyecare providers interested in learning more about VisionWeb’s coding consultant service are encouraged to contact Suzanne Carter at (512) 241-8502 or email scarter@visionweb.com to learn more.

Royalties Presented to American Optometric Association at 2007 Optometry’s Meeting

Boston, MA (Optometry’s Meeting) – June 29, 2007 – VisionWeb, the premier provider of technology services to streamline the eyecare practice, announced today that 31 AOA State Affiliates have earned a total of $35,049 in royalties from eyecare product orders on VisionWeb over the last twelve month period. This marks the fourth year that AOA State Affiliates have received royalties from VisionWeb. Royalties earned in this period were 75% higher than the same period ending in May 2006.

“VisionWeb is proud to offer this program to support the participating AOA State Affiliates in their objectives to increase non-dues revenue,” said Jeffrey B. Saddington, president and CEO of VisionWeb. “With this royalty marking our largest award to date, we’re pleased to increase our support of independent optometry, while continuing to offer AOA members a valuable service for their practices.”

Under the terms of the program, AOA members automatically earn royalties for their State Affiliates by using VisionWeb to place their eyecare product orders. A portion of the transaction fee associated with each order (the fee paid to VisionWeb by the supplier who receives the order), is earmarked as a royalty payment to the State Affiliate that represents the ordering account.
AOA State Affiliates participating in this program receive royalties from VisionWeb, exclusive of any agreements that they may have with buying groups. VisionWeb remains independent, and ordering on VisionWeb does not interfere with buying group discounts or pricing relationships that ordering accounts may have with suppliers.

Interested AOA members should contact their State Executive Director or President to find out if their state participates in the program. State affiliates interested in participating in AOA Royalty program, should contact Jessica Clark, Sr. Marketing Manager for VisionWeb, at (512) 241-8561. Ordering on VisionWeb is free for eyecare providers and VWI members will continue to receive their buying group discounts when they order to their suppliers through VisionWeb. VisionWeb operates independently and does not interfere with pricing relationships that eyecare providers may have with their suppliers. Additionally, VWI orders placed on VisionWeb will contribute to royalties earned by AOA state affiliates participating in VisionWeb’s AOA Royalty Program. VWI members are encouraged to contact their AOA state affiliate executive director to find out if their state participates.

“The relationship formed today with VisionWeb assures a long-term business strategy on the part of both companies to create a win for both entities, all VWI member accounts, State Associations endorsing VWI, and the American Optometric Association,” said Joseph C. Mallinger, OD, MBA, FAAO, President of VWI. “VWI strives continuously to bring the very best technology to our member accounts and we are proud to be at the leading edge of the technology with VisionWeb, which is destined to be the ‘norm’ for all eye care providers in the future.”

VWI and VisionWeb will launch their first promotion to VWI members later this summer. Accounts will receive incentives for ordering to multiple VWI-approved suppliers using VisionWeb’s ordering service or integrated practice management systems. More details will be provided to VWI members in the coming weeks. VWI members are encouraged to call (800) 640-9485 to learn more about the promotion.
