VisionWeb Unveils 2005 “Lab of the Year” Awards
Return to the Top
Austin, TX – November 17, 2005 – VisionWeb, a leading provider of technology services to the optical industry, announced today that it is honoring three of its laboratory partners as 2005’s “Lab of the Year” winners.
The VisionWeb “Lab of the Year” program, new this year, is designed to encourage and reward labs that have shown exemplary results growing and maintaining customer loyalty using VisionWeb.
This year’s honorees are Nova Optical, Orangeburg, NY; Cherry Optical, Melvindale, MI; and Twin City Optical, Minneapolis, MN.
“VisionWeb is fortunate to have the most forward-thinking Optical Laboratories in the industry as part of our growing network,” commented Ron Barnes, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for VisionWeb. “Our honorees have embraced VisionWeb as a tool to improve service and increase lab efficiency.”
A set of measurement criteria were developed to determine the Labs to be honored with this award. These criteria measured each Lab’s ability to migrate their customers’ orders to VisionWeb from the phone, fax, or other methods, and to retain and grow their customers’ VisionWeb usage. The calculations took overall lab volume into account, in order to ensure a level playing field for labs of all sizes.
VisionWeb “Lab of the Year” winners will be featured in a special section of the VisionWeb site, and will receive an honorary plaque commemorating their recognition. For more information, please visit www.visionweb.com.
Labs interested in becoming a supplier on VisionWeb should contact Juanita McLeod, Director of Business Development, at (904) 443-1145.

VisionWeb ConnectSM Program Enables Connectivity for All Optical Laboratories
Return to the Top
Austin, TX – September 15, 2005 – VisionWeb, a leading provider of technology services to the optical industry, unveiled a new program today that will allow any optical laboratory to connect to the VisionWeb Essential system to receive Rx lens orders. The VisionWeb ConnectSM program will enable rapid expansion of VisionWeb’s supplier network, providing streamlined order processing for both eyecare providers and their laboratories.
With VisionWeb Connect, labs can enjoy the benefits of being a part of the VisionWeb supplier network, regardless of the lab management software (LMS) system running their lab operations. Three levels of integration will be offered, with each lab choosing the connection type that best suits their needs:
- Complete-Connect. At this level, VisionWeb fully integrates with the lab’s LMS, enabling eyecare practices to place accurate, error-checked, electronic orders using the lab’s own customized catalog – and have their orders submitted directly into the lab’s production system.
- Custom-Connect. Labs choosing this level will enable customers to place error-checked, electronic orders using the lab’s own customized catalog, and submitted to the lab’s order desk.
- Express-Connect. Customers of Express-Connect labs can place electronic orders, with standard error-checking, through VisionWeb using a standard catalog of lens products. And because Express-Connect requires very little custom configuration, labs can be up and running in a very short amount of time.
“We are very excited to be able to welcome all labs to the VisionWeb family,” said Jeffrey B. Saddington, VisionWeb’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “The VisionWeb Connect program represents a valuable opportunity for laboratories to maximize their efficiency and ensure their customers can conduct electronic business with them simply and conveniently.”
Since 2002, eyecare practices have been communicating with their optical laboratories and other suppliers through VisionWeb Essential, a service that allows seamless order transmission between the practice and supplier. By creating additional levels of connectivity, VisionWeb is allowing labs at all levels of technical capability the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of VisionWeb. The result is the potential to connect virtually any lab to its customers over the Web, simply by joining VisionWeb through the VisionWeb Connect program.
“Our goal is to enable all labs, regardless of the software they choose to manage their operations, to provide the highest level of service to their customers,” said Mike O’Malley, CFO and Vice President of Business Development at VisionWeb. “Our new VisionWeb Connect program provides the means for any lab to become a supplier on VisionWeb Essential, giving ECP customers the ability place all their Rx orders quickly, accurately, and efficiently using industry-leading VisionWeb technology.”
