New VisionWeb Program Lets All Labs Connect
September 16, 2005 | Return to the Top

LAS VEGAS --Internet portal VisionWeb unveiled a new program yesterday designed to allow any optical laboratory to connect to its VisionWeb Essential system to receive Rx lens orders.

The VisionWeb Connect program will enable rapid expansion of VisionWeb’s supplier network, providing streamlined order-processing for both eyecare providers and their laboratories, company executives said.

With VisionWeb Connect, available now, labs can enjoy the benefits of being a part of the VisionWeb supplier network, regardless of the lab-management software (LMS) system running their operations, according to the company. Three levels of integration are offered, with each lab choosing the connection type that best suits their needs:

  • Complete-Connect—VisionWeb fully integrates with the lab’s LMS, enabling eyecare practices to place electronic orders using the lab’s own customized catalog, and have their orders submitted directly into the lab’s production system.
  • Custom-Connect—Customers can place error-checked, electronic orders using the lab’s own customized catalog, and submitted to the lab’s order desk.
  • Express-Connect—Customers can place electronic orders, with standard error-checking, through VisionWeb using a standard catalog of lens products.

VisionWeb also announced yesterday the launch of a new integration with Abeo Solutions’ Crystal Practice Management software, being demonstrated at Vision Expo at the Cyber Café.

Also, a new agreement to integrate with VersaSuite’s practice management software has just been signed, with a goal of launching in next year’s first half.

22 AOA State Affiliates Earn VisionWeb Royalties
June 30, 2005 | Return to the Top

DALLAS --American Optometric Association state affiliates in 22 states earned royalties from internet portal VisionWeb for the period from May 2004 through April 2005. This is the second year AOA state affiliates have received royalties from VisionWeb.

This year’s royalties totaled $5,150, an increase of nearly 157 percent over the previous donation, according to VisionWeb. The number of states receiving royalties climbed by almost 40 percent.

AOA members can earn royalties for their state affiliates by using VisionWeb to place their product orders. A portion of the transaction fee associated with each order is earmarked as a royalty payment to the state affiliate that represents the ordering OD.

“The VisionWeb state affiliate royalty program is a way to support the states with non-dues revenue in order to help them achieve their objectives,” said Jeff Saddington, VisionWeb’s president and chief executive officer. Saddington presented a check to the AOA during last week’s Optometry’s Meeting here; the AOA will distribute the money to the eligible states.
