Optivision, VisionWeb O.N.E. Link for Online Ordering

AUSTIN , Texas --Internet portal VisionWeb and Optivision, which offers ophthalmic laboratory-management software, are partnering for online order processing.
Their integration will allow labs running Optivision software to send orders electronically to other VisionWeb O.N.E.-connected laboratories regardless of the management software the receiving lab is running. Optical labs running the Optivision software will be able to transfer spectacle-lens orders to other labs in an automated electronic protocol, without the use of phone or fax, according to VisionWeb.
Connections with initial labs will be complete at the end of 2004, with the remaining labs connecting in early 2005, an announcement said.

VisionWeb Launches BestPractices Program to Reward Members

AUSTIN , Texas —Effective today, online service VisionWeb is launching VisionWeb BestPractices, designed to reward its members for using VisionWeb Essential and VisionWeb Enhanced.
Members will earn PrizePoints for spectacle-lens, contact-lens, and frame orders placed on VisionWeb, and will receive PrizePoints for enrolling in and using VisionWeb Enhanced, as well. Bonus PrizePoints will also be awarded through featured promotions on VisionWeb.
PrizePoints can be redeemed for electronics, equipment for the eyecare practice, golf accessories, and other prizes.
In addition to earning PrizePoints, VisionWeb members can qualify for VisionWeb BestPractices “Elite” status by reaching specified ordering thresholds. At this level, practices will qualify to receive monthly rebates towards their high-speed Internet connectivity.
Said Ron Barnes, VisionWeb’s VP of sales and marketing, “The VisionWeb BestPractices program is an opportunity for us to give back to our members, and let them know how valuable they are.”

VisionWeb, VisionStar Unveil Automated Order Routing Interface

AUSTIN , Texas – VisionWeb, LP, and VisionStar, LLC, launched an interface for automated order routing from a VisionStar Laboratory Management system to outsource labs.
VisionWeb’s Ron Barnes, vice president of sales and marketing, said VisionStar is one of the first lab management system vendors to be connected through VisionWeb with the ability to route orders from the lab-management system to outsource labs.
Prior to this new service, in March 2003 VisionWeb and VisionStar created an interface to route orders directly from the eyecare practitioner's office to participating VisionStar labs,
The relationship with VisionWeb allows VisionStar to provide customers with an automated system that enables orders to be received electronically, eliminates frame to come orders, provides online order status for ECPs and allows orders to be outsourced electronically to a preferred lab, according to VisionStar executive vice president Robin Cassidy.

VisionWeb Launching Online Member-Loyalty Program

AUSTIN, Texas--Industry Internet portal VisionWeb will kick off a loyalty program for its members during the second quarter, to reward them for placing orders and processing insurance transactions online at www.visionweb.com. Explained Ron Barnes, VisionWeb’s vice president of sales and marketing, “Our member-loyalty program will be a way for us to give something back to our members by rewarding them for using VisionWeb to streamline and simplify their practices.”
VisionWeb members will earn points for spectacle-lens, contact-lens, and frame orders they place on VisionWeb; they will also receive points for their VisionWeb Enhanced monthly subscription fee. Points can be redeemed for prizes including electronics and equipment for the eyecare practice.
In addition, labs, suppliers and manufacturers will be able to work with VisionWeb to reward their customers for their orders on www.visionweb.com by purchasing additional points to be awarded to their customers.

Florida OD, Optometric Association Win AOA/VisionWeb Tournament

AUSTIN , Texas --The Florida Optometric Association and one of the state's optometric practices have emerged as top winners in the AOA GetAway VisionWeb Tournament, designed to reward American Optometric Association members and affiliates for using VisionWeb to order their eyecare products.
The Florida Optometric Association can now receive a $5,000 bonus royalty from VisionWeb. In addition, the winning practice in the Florida association, Envision Eye Care--the practice of Pamela Ebmeier, OD--will receive a $5,000 vacation and a $100 gift check for an office lunch party. The AOA GetAway VisionWeb Tournament ran from September 21 through December 13.
Scores in four rounds of buying activity were based on the percentage of AOA members ordering in an affiliate and the average number of orders per participating member.

Ron Barnes Joins VisionWeb as VP-Sales and Marketing

AUSTIN , Texas --VisionWeb has appointed Ron Barnes as its new VP of sales and marketing, responsible for all of the Internet portal’s sales and marketing activity.
Barnes joined VisionWeb after 10 years at Essilor of America; most recently he was director of marketing for Essilor Laboratories of America, where he managed the marketing functions of the Essilor Laboratory network.

VisionWeb Begins Integration with DVI Lab-Management Software

AUSTIN , Texas --Industry Internet portal VisionWeb is now working with Digital Vision, Inc. (DVI) to automate eyecare-product orders through VisionWeb and the DVI lab-management system.
Initially, this software interface will allow labs running DVI's lab-management software the ability to electronically transmit orders for spectacle lenses to other labs outside the DVI system through VisionWeb, the two companies said. The second phase will enable these labs to electronically receive orders directly from eyecare providers who are VisionWeb members.

Transitions Becomes Equity Investor in VisionWeb

AUSTIN , Texas --Transitions Optical has joined VisionWeb as its seventh equity investor, according to VisionWeb president and CEO Jeffrey Saddington. Transitions now has a seat on VisionWeb’s board of directors, and can help steer the future direction of the Internet portal. In addition, VisionWeb will become the exclusive sponsor of the Cyber Cafe for attendees at the annual Transitions Academy training conference through 2008.
Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
Transitions joins VisionWeb's six other equity partners: Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Essilor of America, Advanced Medical Optics, Jobson LLC, Marchon Eyewear, and the American Optometric Association.
